NLN Core Competency #2: Facilitate Learner Development and Socialization

This second competency from the NLN is associated with our role in the individualization of student learners. Nurse educators must appreciate the domains of learning (cognitive, affective, psychomotor), recognize the needs of diverse learners, and identify available resources to facilitate outcome achievement.

Regarding socialization, educators should impart the value of belonging to professional organizations and convey the importance of the various inter-professional roles in clinical practice. During the pandemic, in the absence of clinical placements, one way nurse educators sought to accomplish this task was through the use of simulation.

Tell me about your experiences with simulation. What did you find beneficial? What challenges did you experience? Comment below.
