Since the main purposes of the website are to develop a sense of community among novice nurse educators and provide the tools needed to help them transition into a new role, I installed the following plugins: Lifter, BuddyPress plus Youzify, and the Events Calendar.
Lifter is an online LMS plugin that I can use to create courses, assignments, and quizzes relative to the NLN Core Competencies for Novice Nurse educators. From within the site, I can facilitate engagement by assigning badges, generating certificates, and offering coaching.
BuddyPress is a social networking plugin that allows members of a community to create profiles, send private messages, and interact within groups. Based on several reviews, it was recommended to also add the Youzify plugin to integrate with BP as it offers a lot in the way of widgets for obtaining registration/sign up info, member information, and having a responsive design.
Lastly, The Events Calendar seemed like a visually appealing and organized way for me to schedule events, post upcoming webinars, or allow members to book appointments me as needed. Although they did seem to have an issue with an update a couple of weeks ago, they were very receptive on wordpress.org and have over 800,000 active installations.
